The Mk II saw service in 1940 and 1941 with the British Expeditionary Force in France and North Africa where it saw action in Tobruk. It also served in Greece.

It weighed 14.3 tons and as armed with a QF 2 pounder gun and a .303 Vickers machine gun. It had a crew of five; commander, loader, gunner, driver, hull machine gunner.
