The BMP-2 replaced the BMP-1 in 1980 and is still in service around the world today.
It is or was used by around 40 nations and at the time of writing is being used the the Russia-Ukraine war on both sides. Ukraine have over 1,400 units.
The main armament is stabilized 30 mm 2A42 autocannon with dual ammunition feeds. This operates at a slow speed of 300 round per minute or a fast rate of 550 rounds per minute. It can also be fitted with a 7.62,, PKT machine gun. Some models also have a missile launcher on the turret.
